For applications that require a 2x2 photo, would it have to be a professional photo (wearing a suit)? Or would any photo do?

The instructions for the application just say supply a 2x2 photograph.

Thanks

Any feedback on this would be great. I was actually considering sending a family photo that we recently took (myself, wife and daughter). Its probably the best picture that I have of myself. What do you think? (Sorry for hijacking this thread a bit)

I wore a shirt and tie and took passport photos at Office Depot. 4 photos cost me about $14.00

i seriously can not believe threads like these exit. i hope no one gets terribly mad at me for saying, but come on guys i know you know better.

i don't get these threads. aren't we going to be very professional when we become doctors? these threads:

-should i wear a suit?
-should i trim down my rock & roll hair?
-what should i eat?
-when should i use the bathroom?
-what tie?

are way too funny.

No Question is a stupid question!!!

Personally, I wore a regular dress shirt w/o a tie. But if I had to do it again, I would probably wear a suits and ties.

bingpredent,

To the interview or for the picture? It wouldnt matter so much for the picture.

Hey there Perfect..

I, too, think this is a great topic. I agree that some threads are absolutely ridiculous including the ones that I read on a daily basis pleading for people to post their stats.😕

Shawnone, for both the photo and the interview.
For the photo, it may seem little conservative, but at least it'll give the admission committee the impression that you're a serious about this.

Shawn,

Thanks for the idea on office depot. I didn't know what I was going to do because this photography place was going to take 3 weeks to get the pics back. I will just take your route and get a few done at office depot.

Nicholas,

i haven't started any threads that have been irrelavant to what we are after. if you think its a bad idea to ask people to post their stats, then i don't know what to say.

i think stats, interview dates, and what do you recieve today are probably the most helpful threads of the whole sdn. if you don't see it, then i am sorry man.

and by the way, i never said this thread was rediculous.

i said it was funny!!!!

don't take the pic too seriously. I think a T-shirt is fine. Its mainly for identification purposes.

Yes, it is just for ID. I would advice you to use your digital camera. It's easy and free. If you don't have one, find a fairly recent picture and cut it so that it will be approximately 2x2. I did the latter and I didn't have any problems with it eventhough I had the pacific ocean in my background.

Earlier I was wondering about the "signed passport photo". I didn't know if that meant that I should just sign it or whether I should get it notarized, etc. I contacted NYU and they told me that it should just be signed either on the back or the front by the applicant.

Last year i wore a sweater and had my pic taken. although the pic looked nice, i felt out of place when the interviewers pulled my pic out during the interview. so, this year, when i want to have my pic taken, i am wearing a suite. you guys can send nude pics.. i dont care
