Gonna bump this one up... does anyone have anything to add to my burgeoning SDN pre-med neurosis?

Sorry man. lol. Totally shut out this round:
0 acceptances, 0 waitlists, 0 interviews, 0 phonecalls or telegrams, 21 rejections.

And uhhh yeah what he said: Apply Broadly!!

3 waitlists, 1 acceptance. Huzzah! (3.1 & 37)

not physics or engineering...but close.

4 interviews, 2 acceptances, 1 waitlist.

good luck!

In the end...
Out of 20 applications: 9 interviews, 3 acceptances, 4 waitlists, 1 post-interview hold (to be determined waitlist/rejection later this week). No post-interview rejections!
Not bad for 3.36, 3.26 BCPM, 35.

xcgirl - Do you think the fact that you went to JHU for ugrad helped you? (Especially at Jeff and Vandy).

Harvard of the West usually refers to University of Michigan (Harvard is the Michigan of the East). Their fight song is also "Champions of the West", or something like that.

I've also heard Stanford referred to as the Harvard of the West, but I'm pretty sure the poster was talking about Michigan.

i agree with this person

I've heard University of Chicago referred to as "The Harvard of the Midwest", not that it matters. Most of these "Harvard of ______" change.

My dad transferred from Cornell to Tulane when Tulane was the "Harvard of the South"

for those of you who got 35+ on MCAT, what were your routines?
i'm guessing i gotta do that well so just wondering....
MESSAGE MEEE PLZZZ

4 interview invites:

2 waitlists (top of waitlist at EVMS and possibly Albany Med)
1 rejection (Rush)
1 to be had interview (I know it's weird but I got invited this morning)

3.17 overall
3.37 bcpm

My gpa has improved a bit however, so I sent the schools that haven't rejected me updates, and a day after my update at Chicago Med (RFU) they sent me an invite. Guess it was a good thing.

33S (12 P, 11 V, 10 B)

Just out of curiosity, how many people in this thread are engineering and/or physics majors?

Biophysics major here (Physics and Physiology joint.)
Congrats everyone on getting those acceptances! Hope that you guys have a great year next year.

Is it heavily geared towards Physics or Physiology?

3.07gpa, 33 mcat

15 schools
3 interviews
2 waitlists
1 TBD

Congrats!

Thanks!

Possibly? At Vandy's second look weekend there were about 10 of us from Hopkins, so I think they may have some sort of a preference for us? As far as Jeff goes, I have some contacts there that might have helped.

Thanks!

contacts with? Anyway, you deserve it! Your MCAT is awesome. Great Job!

The program should really be an honors program. We have to take basically every physics course that the phys students have to including signal processing, dynamics, quantum mechanics, thermal and statistical, modern, advanced physics lab, 2nd year mechanics and thermal labs, advanced electromagnetism, and a few others. We also take calculus I - IV, Linear alegebram ODEs, PDEs, and 'non-linear dynamics and chaos'. We also have to take two extra Math and Physics courses which are specific to Math/Physio and Physics/Physio majors. These extra courses are tough courses that focus on dynamical systems analysis and chaos theory and biomedical signal analysis (matlab analysis). We also have to take the honors physio research thesis course, and most of the 2nd and third year physio courses that they have to take. There's not much room for electives...

Hey Vihsadas,

I feel your pain, I was an engineer though and took 80% of the classes you took (look at my gpa if you want proof). I've seen that ur gonna reapply and i just wanted to say good luck.

Vis, if you do an SMP then I feel bad for the M1s you'll be demoralizing. 🙂
