3.0 GPA and Harvard

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
That was a very funny joke 😀

...Is this guy for real?

Sure its possible! Is your dad a senator?

It's possible, but you'll need a perfect DAT score.

Seriously.

No, I'm not kidding.

No stop, honestly.

Not possible unless you know people and get hooked up.

yes is possible if your dad makes huge donation to the school, and have a building named after him.

It's possible if you have 200 papers published in JADA already.

  😀 😀

Relax guys,

I have a 3.05 GPA and got into Harvard University and I don't know anyone there. So IT IS POSSIBLE.

Man, I should have applied. Wish someone started this thread earlier. It would be nice enough to even get an interview at an Ivy.

Well if you went to MIT and majored in Astro-physics and your looking unto dentistry as a second career you'll have a shot.

I think you're a shoe-in

It's possible, don't make fun of a post like this unless you know what you are talking about.

What about if this student was an All American Div 1 Athlete, nationally ranked who excelled at something else to an elite level and still had a good enough gpa even with rigorous time constraints.

Cause it happened to me.

I swear, some people need to realize that a GPA is important, but at the same time it is nothing more than a 2 dimensional representation of someone. Life is not 2 dimensional, and neither are the people that apply to professional school.

As I stated yesterday--anything's possible. Yet, the question, as posed by the thread starter was a simple, straightforward one regarding G.P.A. There was no mention of mitigating circumstances, i.e., great athletes, MIT grads, or exceptional, quality human beings. It's understandable, given the lofty credentials of most of Harvard's student body (except maybe G.W. Jr.), that people would poke fun at Joe Applicant with a 3.0 G.P.A. and nothing else. So, go ahead, MAKE FUN!!!!😀 😀 😀 😀

Just remember, if you don't try, you can't know.

Is it possible.....yes! Is it probable.....no, unless you are heavily into research and have published papers. I believe with that and good DAT's, you'll be invited for an interview. Remember that the odds are greatly against you to begin with (30+ accepted / 1000+ applicants)....chances are not great.

Again....it is possible! You won't know until you try.

Of course I wasn't serious when I asked this question. I just think it's funny how top schools will act like they seriously consider students from accross the board when they really don't. They only want your application fee. And believe me, schools do make money off the number of applications sent to them. I just wanted to see if anyone in here knew of anyone that got in with a 3.0. But yeah, if you played division I football or basketball, a former Olympic medal winner, the child of a wealthy donor, a famous person in general or someone with PERFECT DAT's, then yeah they would consider you.

Personally, I would love to attend UOP. 3 years and out!!!! I also heard that their students are laid back and funloving. Of course, that 250K debt upon leaving isn't too attractive. 🙂

Thanks for the replies. Many of them were pretty funny. 🙂
