Hello,

I was wondering if you guys could help me out with my chances and maybe help me narrow down my school list? I know I may not be competitive for MD, was wondering if it was worth a shot.

Stats/Personal info:
Fl Resident / URM? (Puerto Rican/Nicaraguan)
UF Undergrad
3.35 Science/ 3.57 Overall
508 MCAT

EC'S

I have a letter from a DO I shadowed for 40 hours (Really liked Osteopathic medicine), shadowed MD also for 35 hours

Research 2 years (no publications)
Intern for a community outreach program
Certified HIV tester/counselor (is this clinical?)
Went on a medical mission trip

Be as honest as you want! Thank you for your time.

Apply to all of your Florida MD schools (include Nova if it opens for 2018) and consider these OOS schools:
New York Medical College
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
GW
Georgetown
Loyola
St. Louis
Creighton
Tulane
Oakland Beaumont
You are competitive for all DO schools so apply to several including the 2 in Florida.

Thank you very much for your time and for your list. The list actually matches up with what I already had from going through the MSAR.

This is just my experience but not a single school I interviewed at even mentioned publications. They wanted to know about my project, what I did, and how it would be useful to me in the future.

Two years is a great amount of time I'm sure you have really interesting knowledge to share.

Also, working through undergrad is something I did as well and I found impressed interviewers a lot. Make sure to be ready to talk about that as well.

This is more interview advice than list-building but hopefully it helps none-the-less.
