Institution is top 15 (University of California) (CA-Resident)

cGPA: 3.4 (upward trend, can likely bring to 3.5 by the time I graduate at the end of the year)

sGPA: 3.3

MCAT: 497, 507 retake (improvement in every section by at least 2 points)

EC's: Variety of health/non-health related (on campus health educator in sexual health at student health services). A big one is I run my own business that's helping me pay for my app cycle doing graphic design. Research in peds department.

Extra Info: URM (AA), Wasn't always pre-med or pre-health anything, used to do art, but now a Biochem/Cell Bio major. Middle-Low SES (but not enough to get FAP).

That last point is why it's important for me to spend my money wisely and really pick schools I have a decent shot out. Any suggestions on schools or where I should be researching/eliminating/adding. Appreciate the look-through, feel free to ask for more info.

Definitely add Howard, Morehouse and Meharry. Other schools to consider:
New York Medical College
Albany
Jefferson
St. Louis
Creighton
Oakland Beaumont

Any to remove? Also are DC schools a high chance? (I'm actually putting Georgetown and GWU at the top of my list for "reach")

Alright, so there are two main issues with my app currently. I have non-clinical volunteering (~1000 hours) but 0 clinical volunteering and 0 shadowing. I realize both are pretty detrimental to my app but which would be more beneficial to focus on between now and when the application opens?

You've got six months, and need to do both. Shadowing to about 60 hours, including PCP would do. Clinical experience should be as much over 100 as you can get, and it will help if it is a continuing experience you can talk about as ongoing at interviews in the autumn.
