3.45 sciGPA but 37Q

I think you're set. I have very similar stats and my cycle ended up working out pretty well. You seem to have an even stronger research background than I do, which may result in you getting more looks from some of the research heavy schools. You sGPA is a little low for some of the big schools so you may want to consider trimming a few of those off the list and adding a few more safety schools. I applied to a lot of those same schools and did alright, I think. Check out my MDApps for more information or shoot me a PM for more specific info. 35 is definitely doable, it's just not fun. I applied to 34 initially because I figured it was better to go for broke than to have to apply again because I definitely could not afford another round.

I would maybe consider rethinking a few schools like Baylor, BU which tend to be fairly instate friendly or to only accept people with strong ties to the state. It's a total crap shoot though so they may work out for you though. Overall I think you'll do great since you're applying early and have strong experiences and a strong MCAT score. Best of luck.

I would also consider adding Duke to the list if you're interested because I felt like they did a good job of looking at the whole applicant and your character as opposed to just your numbers. That's just my subjective opinion though.

EDIT: Also, since you're interested in Upstate you might consider some of the SUNY's as they will give you instate tuition after your first year and they tend to like CA applicants. More food for thought.

Thinking the same thing. Thanks for the suggestions. I've taken out a couple of the reach schools that were in locations that didn't appeal to me. I relooked at Boston and Baylor, and according to my MSAR BU is private? Baylor also has a short secondary, so I think I'm going to see what happens with both of those.

I think you should narrow down schools to 25. I applied to 30 schools with a 3.6/33 fearing that I wouldn't get in and really, I would have been OK with 10 (although I did apply as a NJ resident, so my state schools were much more of a sure thing than CA). Still, I think if you apply smartly, mostly to schools in your range (around 3.6-3.7/33-35), think Albert Einstein (you should add that) and Mt. Sinai and NYU and BU etc, especially schools like SUNYs that don't weed out too many OOS applicants, you will be ok. Forgive the previous run on sentence please.

Good luck, and really, save yourself some money and weed out 10 schools. And Drexel, NYMC types may not give you an interview as they get so many apps. Trust me when I say you'll have the best response from your GPA/MCAT range.
