I am planning on applying to all of my state (Illinois) medical schools, Iowa, and BU along with a bunch of DO schools and some other private OOS MD schools as well. I'm hoping to score 27-30 on my MCAT and am currently enrolled in a prep course. Would these statistics be plausible for any MD/DO schools? Should I apply to 1 year medical sciences masters programs in Illinois to boost my GPA? Or, do I have a chance without it?

Academic/Personal Background: Molecular biology major and anthropology minor. I have great extracurriculars (leadership experience and 4 years of involvement), 2 years of internship at NMH, study abroad, psych research, and volunteering. I am hoping these will help, but I know that most, if not all, schools screen based on GPA/MCAT scores.

Any opinions or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance! :)

You have to aim a little higher on the mcat for MD.
