I was wondering if you guys would mind commenting on my profile (numbers, ECs, and school list).

I feel like my numbers are pretty average and I have a well rounded application as far as volunteering and exposure to medicine go. What really makes me unique is my work experience. I started out in energy consultation and then moved to testing and marketing/sales of jet engines.

I presently work at a company that designs surgical implants and instruments for various surgical fileds. I spent the first year of my current job on the manufacturing side (lean work, process design, FDA validations) and currently work on the new product development side (custom design, new products, revisions/support to current designs).

As far as school list, I would love to be in Ohio (grew up/worked there), Florida (currently work here/resident), Chicago (fun city), Boston (fun city), Pennsylvania (beautiful state), or Minnesota. To be honest, I just want to be at a good school and have a lot of opportunities to become a great product development surgeon, so location isn't everything.

Please check out my MDapps under my SDN name. I would be more than happy to return the favor. Thanks guys 😀

I'd apply to MCW and SLU. you're kind of iffy, but still have a good shot.

I think you've got a great shot with all of your ECs. Your stats are certainly good enough to get your foot in the door.

I agree about MCW and SLU (if you like them), and in general would advise that you look at dropping some non-oos-friendly state schools and adding friendlier private schools instead. Just a thought.

Good luck!

Looks pretty good to me. Awesome ECs, slightly below average MCAT and just about average GPA. I think you'll get in somewhere with that list.

Good catch. I didn't look much at private vs public when I originally made my list and had a couple state schools that would've been hard. I've updated my list with a couple new ones and took some of the state ones off. I didn't add MCW yet, but I may if I can cut 1-2 schools off. I'm at 26 right now and think I would like to get it down to 25.

Yah, I'm okay with my numbers for the most part. I really hope all my work experience pushes me way up.
