What was the breakdown of your MCAT score and how much effort did you put into it?

retake that and do what it takes to get 35+. These are my honest beliefs: I could almost train a monkey to get 35 given the right time, the right strategy/plan, and the right materials. If you get that up, now you can apply to the top-20 US MD. Don't sell yourself short.

Idk about training a monkey to get a 35, not everyone is a great standardized test taker even after a lot of practice. With that being said OP you have absolutely no chance at DO and maybe at one of the top 3 Caribbean schools. You will definitely have to retake and score > 25 for DO schools and > 30 for MD schools. A lot of DO schools accept retakes up until January. So, I would suggest buckling down and putting an honest effort. A score of 19 on the MCAT just shows an atrocious preparation and extremely weak command on the content. These issues can be resolved by putting in a little more effort.

lol wut? So just because someone is not going to a top 20 MD school, are they selling themselves short? Do you realize how few applicants get a 35+? It is no walk in the park...OP obviously the higher you get the better, but don't think if you can't get a 35 you are doomed. Shoot for a 30+

Does it really matter what the breakdown of the mcat is? OP, I know you don't want to take a year off, but you don't really have a choice. You may be able to get into the carribean, but that is a huge mistake when waiting a year and going US would be exponentially better. Retake the mcat, get a 28+ and apply DO and MD next year.

GPA is fine, but MCAT of 19 = 100% rejection rate at any DO school. Retake the MCAT and score in the HIGH 20s at a minimum. At my school, we'll expect to see a minimum avg score of 25.

One year may seem like a long time, but in the grand scheme of things it really isn't. Since you have a solid GPA, you definitely need to focus on your MCAT by following one of the self-study guides on here or you can take a formal class if you have the money to. Definitely head over to the MCAT section on SDN, it really is a big help to get you going in the right direction. Good luck!
