Hi all, been lurking for a bit now and finally hopped on here after being disappointed with my recent MCAT. I'm a reapplicant from last year and was put on one wait list for interview but it didn't go anywhere. Washington resident. Thanks for the input!

First time applying:
-MCAT 28 (8V, 10P, 10B)
-Graduated June 2012 with GPA indicated in title
-Neuroscience undergrad research for 2 years (no publications, but 3 poster presentations)
-Clinical undergrad research assistant for 1.5 - 2 years
-Physician shadowing 50hours
-Started working part time for two different jobs around April 2012

Second time:
-MCAT retake of 30 (10V, 11P, 9B ---irritated that B went down)
-No longer doing the research because I'm graduated
-10 more hours of shadowing (60 total)
-Working part time as a clinical research assistant/coordinator in a doctor's office (since April 2012) as well as a small side job one day a week.
-12 hours volunteer as graduation coach and mentor to high school students Jan-June (intend to resume once their schools begin again in September)
-A few letters from the same people as last cycle, with two new ones (one from the MD I work for)

Applying to:
Albany
Emory
FSU
Georgetown
Oakland Beaumont
Oregon Health and Sci
Rosalind Franklin
Rush
SUNY Upstate
Ohio State U
Tufts
U of Arizona - Tucson
UCSD
UC Davis
Pritzker
U of Colorado

Washington U

With a 2x MCAT and an imbalanced score the 2nd time around, you should focus on the low tier MD and any new MD programs, but your also fine for any DO school, including mine.

My learned colleague gyngyn;'s comments also apply to schools like Emory and especiialy Wash U. Your MCAT scores are also below avg and you are thus targeting too many OOS public schools, which prefer the home team,a nd thus you need to be above avg for them. Stick with your state school, if any.

My suggested list:
