A 123 will hurt for MD schools, and might be merely OK for DO. She should appeal the computer error and retake.

Hey all, my friend just received her score back.

Unfortunately, she got a 123 for CARS (the test center had a malfunction, so she lost 5 minutes on that section). I think we will still try for this cycle since everything is already turned in. Unless if you believe the 123 will hurt her and net 0 acceptances.

ECs: Medical Scribe (10 months)
Free Clinic Volunteer (3 years)
Basic science research (1 year)
Clinical anesthesiology research with abstract publication and two presentations (1 year)
Emergency medicine research (4 months)
Performing chemistry experiments for kids (2 years)
Volunteering at a free clinic in Mexico (1 year)
EMR Specialist/Implementation for a hospital (3 months)

Her best chances for MD will be with her state schools. DO should be fine.

So is this cycle not possible for her? Is a 123 going to rule her out from DO schools?

With a VR of 123 (or 6 on the old scale) I think that's lethal for OOS MD.

Will OOS be out of the question for MD? I also cannot seem to find any of the MCAT section cut-off requirements for DO schools as well. She has tried to appeal and retake without success.

Only PCOM and KCU for sure. She should apply broadly. But not to LUCOM.

I checked, and it is a 7 on the old scale (which I know is still lethal). Are OOS DO also out of the question?

Thank you. Do you think it might be okay to explain the low CARS in the optional sections asking about any concerning sections due to the 5-minute shutdown, but wording it to not sound like an excuse?
