Just got my score back from my January 8th test, so I figured it's best I start getting some advice on schools I have a realistic chance at.

Stats:
3.91 cGPA 3.94 sGPA

27 (9/9/9) MCAT 10/21/14
31 (12/9/10) MCAT 01/08/15

EC's:
-520 hours of research at the United States Meat Animal Research Center*
-75 hours volunteering as peer educator for alcohol awareness (BACCHUS)
-75 hours volunteering as peer educator for HIV/AIDS awareness (PHIVE-O)
- 30 hours volunteering at blood drives for Red Cross
-150 hours in a band that has opened for Chiddy Bang (well-known artist)
-300 hours running a karaoke business (self-employed)
-140 hours shadowing
-SMDEP at UNMC (6 week pre-medical immersion program)
-Membership in different honor societies and honorary's.

*Will be going back this summer and into 2016 to take on a project as a co-lead that will lead to a co-authorship on a paper in the field of genomics.

My #1 choice is UNMC, so that's really the only place I'm definitely applying. Otherwise, I'm open to pretty much anything.

Time to get the MSAR...

Time to get the MSAR...

Just purchased the MSAR. Just curious, is there an easy way to manipulate which schools you see? Or is it pretty much just click and search the data?

Much appreciated.

Start with your home state and work out from there. Other than basic metrics, the good stuff is in the last tab (acceptance information including OOS matriculants).

Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to help.

Bring us your list when you have a rough draft!

This is a very rough draft simply based on LizzyM score! I know that's not always the best way to do it, but it seemed to work for the time being.

I will admit, I know nothing more than stats regarding these schools, so if I am being thick headed please point it out!

I should mention I am from Nebraska, but you've probably deduced that at this point.

UNMC
Creighton
Chicago - Rosalind Franklin
Chicago - Loyola
Medical College of Wisconsin
Oakland University William Beaumont
Rush Medical College
University of Kansas
University of Missou - Columbia
University of Missou - Kansas City

I do realize the last three are very in-state oriented, but I wish to stay around the midwest if at all possible.

Your GPA is great, but do you have any sort of ties to KS and/or MO? I think that you're going to have an incredibly tough time there as an OOS.

I do not. I do realize it is very unlikely that I would get in there, but again, I'd like to stay in the Midwest. In a perfect world, I'd apply early decision to UNMC and not worry about other schools. But that's probably not the best idea.

I do see what you mean, though. I'll probably check them off of the list.

It's completely understandable to have regional preferences. Unfortunately, there aren't many private MD programs in the Midwest.

Off of the top of my head, I might consider CMU or WMU, but they are OOS. I haven't followed either school closely enough to determine their OOS selectivity, but they are newer programs so you could possibly have luck there ... although, it's a big stretch.

Thank you for the suggestions! I will give them a look.

@Goro Do you have any DO input? I am very uneducated regarding their standards.

I am worried that the 2x MCAT tries and the average score on the last retake will limit your chances at schools in the neighboring states.

I recommend:

U NE
U KS (maybe)
Rush
NYMC
Creighton
Albany
Rosy Franklin
Drexel
Temple
Loma Linda (but read their list of don'ts)
MCW
St. Louis U
Jefferson
Creighton
Tulane
Loyola
GWU
Georgetown
Tufts
U Miami
Wake Forest
EVMS
VCU
All new MD programs except Va Tech and Hofstra
Any DO program
