Which is better?

will 3 EM and 1 non em make you seem well rounded? or will 4 EM look too narrow minded? or does it really matter?

i used three and one, one being from peds... not classically the strongest non em letter to get.

I'm using 2 academic EM letters, one EM (no EM residency) letter and one IM attending.

Same here. I went with a letter from a Peds attending who liked me on the rotation and also could comment on some significant extracurricular work I did. It was well received by many of the programs I interviewed at. I think as long as you have some stron SLORs, the rest is just details. :)

I had:

One from a Level II Trauma Surgeon
One from Level II Community ED doc
One from an EM Residency (non PD or RD)
One from community pulmonologist.

I'm going with the rounded approach:

Trauma Surgeon
Peds Attending
Community ED
Getting an academic ED
