Guys, just to reassure some, I've been getting these emails too. But not every week. I got two within five days right after my app was complete, then nothing. For a while, I assumed I had been rejected, but they just sent me one today. I don't think they are too consistent. We'll all have to just wait and see.

Hey guys, dont read too much into status emails. Many schools send them irregularly, some of them have it automated, some of them wont send any and you have to check the website for any status updates. More likely than not, the timing and frequency of status emails from schools all over and whatnot should be taken with a grain of salt. When I applied to Tulane last year, I think I got one status update email- so the practice of sending multiple ones has probably changed from last year and most likely because it will decrease the number of phone calls that the already thinly-stretched adcom (applications are up significantly this year) needs to take. No need to get more paranoid in the process! Good luck to everyone and feel free to PM me if you are coming to NOLA with any questions, concerns.

EDIT: Ive confirmed that the status updates sent out weekly are indeed a way to cut down call volume and emails wondering about their status.

I didn't get an email yesterday morning (which happened to be my b-day), & was semi-freaking out... I'm from new orleans & tulane is my 1st choice. Rejection is not a v. good b-day present. buuuut... late in the afternoon I got an interview invite. 🙂

Hmm...I see. From reading your posting, it seems that these emails go out to people who have not been rejected but haven't been offered interviews. I guess we'll just keep waitin'.😳
