Hey guys! I'm a junior in undergrad who plans on hardcore studying for the MCAT this upcoming spring. To make this possible, I enrolled in 15 credits, 9 of which are online for my freshly picked public health minor. The other 6 consist of one hard science (cell metab) and an honors college ethics course. This will allow me to attend school only twice a week. How will this schedule of 3 online classes be viewed as by medical schools? Would it look bad? Does it seem light? All my other semesters have consisted of 15-17 credits with at least 9 being science, and I've only taken two online courses before. Thank you guys in advance!

I've been wondering about that. I've seen numerous people say that online classes look bad but don't understand how a medical school would know that I took online classes without contacting my previous college/university. I've taken online classes at 3 different colleges and none of the transcripts note that they were online. I've never known a school to specify that.
Usually, the way that the class title is defined on your schedule is how it will show on your transcript (at least in my experience). So, if the name of the course doesn't specify that it is online, then I see no way that a medical school would know. But this is just going off of my own personal experience.

I just found this post that may be of interest to you. Looks like AMCAS looks up classes in a separate database to gain more information than is listed on transcripts.

It doesn't matter if you take non-prerequisites online. I took several online as they were the only ones offered/worked with my schedule and had no problem.

OP, you are fine. Taking three online classes will not raise red flags. Even if admission committees do question you, your response will be you were preparing for the MCAT and decided to take a "lighter course load".
