1.) What counts in your pre-med requirements gpa?- ochem, bio., physics, gen. chem. (does english and calculus count?)

2.) Also, do the schools just look at the pre-med requirements or all of the science and math classes taken in college? (upper level sciences too, like biochem, microbiology, statistics, etc...)

3.) If you transfered from another school, for the cumulative gpa, do the grades from the first school count, and do they look at them equally as the grades from the school you plan on graduating from?

Thanks so much!!😳

First of all, I'm moving this to the main Pre-Allo forum...

Now for your questions...

1. and 2. There is no pre-req GPA. There is a science GPA that factors in EVERY science class you have taken, not just the pre-reqs. They do also consider your overall GPA, so you can't be slacking in the non-science classes either.

3. They all count. I can't really tell you want adcoms think about courses from other schools, but they all have to be reported, and I would think that they all matter equally.

For allopathic med schools, your GPA will be reported as a composite, including all college courses taken at all institutions, and BCPM GPA which includes all Bio. Chem, Physics, and Math (not just the required courses). For osteopathic schools, they report a science GPA (sGPA) which is the same except that math courses aren't included. Schools look at the CGPA first, then at the BCPM GPA/sGPA.

A few schools give slightly less weight to the first year of classwork, but most weight the years equally.
