Hey guys,

I’m a d1 student currently applying for the 3year air force hpsp. I’m done with all my application process except for the interview, and my recruiter is experiencing a problem with finding a nearby interviewer (I’m from NY). Has anyone in NY finished their application yet? If so, where did you go for the interview?

Thanks!

Could you do a phone interview? I did this, though that was years ago. Otherwise if "NY" means NYC area your nearest base is probably McGuire, which has a clinic of a dozen or so dentists. HPSP is high stakes, thus worth travelling for an interview if necessary IMO.

AF HPSP student here.

They take the in-person interview seriously in the Air Force. I had 3+ hours of 1-on-1 time with the dentist interviewing me (in charge of the clinic on the Air Force base).

My recruiter told me that he had candidates traveling 5-6 hours across several states to get to an Air Force base and do an interview in-person when there wasn't an AF dentist nearby able to do an interview. OP, to answer your question, this is what I would do. Ask your recruiter to set you up with a dentist at the closest base that has a dental clinic.

Navy on the other hand - I had one phone call and one FaceTime call. And that was enough.

I actually just got an update from my recruiter that she was able to get someone at McGuire base. Thank you for all the information. 🙂
