thanks for the faq's - answered a good # of questions i had.

i'm a 3rd year and just got my board score of 230. i've published one paper in nuclear med. but i'm not planning on getting a PhD, maybe take a year off for research but that's it. should i give up my dreams of rad onc? it seems so competitive esp with all the MD/PhDs. do residency programs have board score cut offs? or PhD only tendencies?

You have a fairly competitive application package. Honor as many clerkships as you can, network in RadOnc early, and do an away rotation or two. You'll have a good a shot as anybody.

Very few programs take only PhDs or are anti-PhD. Most take a healthy mix of both. I would not recommend a year of research unless you don't match.
