Hi everyone,

I've been trying to get in contact with Columbia via email/phone for the past two weeks and I've gotten no response. I'm submitting the third science letter directly to the school since I've hit the max limit on AADSAS. Does anyone know how my professor can send in his letter (via email or link)? Thanks!!

Hey! I think you should have you letter writer mail it directly to the school. I believe that's how schools prefer to receive extra letters- keeps it confidential (email, they don't know if you've been bcc'd or something, or link, they don't know if you've accessed it, etc).

Also, here's what Columbia says specifically:
Do I have to send my letters and transcripts to the College of Dental Medicine and AADSAS?
No. Letters of recommendation and transcripts should be submitted through AADSAS. Additional letters of recommendation can be sent directly to the College of Dental Medicine.

Columbia University College of Dental Medicine

If Columbia hasn't received the last letter of rec as I've hit the max too, will they not review your application until then?

Do you guys know if they are strict about it? I submitted my application with 2 Science 1 Research (Neuroscience research which also got a grade) and a dentist?

I don't think so because applications are usually only reviewed once they are complete, and it'll only be complete with the 3 letters.

I think you might be okay but research isn't really a lecture-based course that you got a grade for. My PI (Neuroscience too! 🙂) wasn't one of my LOR writers (even though I did take 1 lecture course with him) because I was more involved with him in a research lab setting than in a course (1yr vs 1 course). I think your best bet is to call and ask Columbia if your PI's letter will count as a science letter.

I remember joining one of their webinars during an ADEA event and im 99% sure they said if youre participating in a program which you work closely with your PI then it can be counted as a science prof. Again only if working with a PI is part of the curriculum. 99% sure it was columbia that said this but could be another school that said the same

I'm wondering the same thing. I have 2 science and 1 science lab professor that I had two labs (upper science labs) with.
