I've been applying to Lodz in Poland and Trakia in Romania.

However upon further research it seems that a lot of these programs do not do residency in the US/UK and the chances of being accepted into a residency program are extremely slim to impossible. Does anyone know of 4-5 year medical programs that do?

Thanks!

Medical school and residency are two separate things, applying to residency is a whole other process you go through in your final year or after graduating med school. The only way to guarantee a residency in the US/UK is to go to school in the US/UK and even then you have to apply to different programs; you don't just get put into a residency. Going to an international school like in Poland or Romania puts you at a huge disadvantage because when you apply to a residency you will be competing against people from the entire world as anyone who graduates from a medical school outside Canada/US is lumped together. In terms of getting into a residency, some schools might offer a tiny bit of advantage over others because there more well known but for the most part, if your going the international route then you will have to score higher on the standardized tests and get better letters of reference to make yourself stand out. It is harder to do, but not impossible.

Thanks for the info. Surely there must be some ****ty hospitals in the US/Canada/UK that no doctor wants to be a resident at, right? Don't they need doctors?
