First off im not worried like others, I have myself to fault and no one else.

I have failed 4 classes - i was a jackass during my early years, long story- , if I make them up - i have made one up already- with a B+ and above, do I stand a chance for DO schools ? Other then these classes that I have failed I would probably be on the honor roll, that is to say that I have got more B's and A's then C's and U's.

I had about 10 hours worth of F's for improperly withdrawing. Don't even get me started on withdrawals. I still made it in.

Analogous situation here, and it is a real **** sandwich. It makes your GPA reflect nothing about your academic ability, but as we all know, many schools are number obsessed because they want their stats to look prestigious.

Yes, you have a chance. If the classes you failed are science classes, retake them and work as hard as you can to get As. As long as your gpa falls within an acceptable range you will most likely get some interviews, and hopefully some acceptances. Good Luck

As a 4th year at NSU, I can definitely say as one who had 2 F's and a couple D's and C's ALL IN SCIENCE classes in my first 2 years...and still got interviews and acceptances to DO and MD schools...it is possible to turn it around. I worked my butt off in retaking those classes and gettin A's and rocked thru the rest of the two years of college. It's real important to write a good personal statement explaining what happened and how u turned it around and ofcourse extracurriculars, community service, mission trips, etc...always show that u are dedicated in more than just academics. But only get involved once u know u can handle the load academically and DO WELL! All in all...as Triumph the dog says on Conan O' Brien...."You can do it!"🙂

Good luck,
$

P.S. If u need any other advice or questions...post here or PM me privately....having gone thru so much in undergrad and now interviewing for residency positions I can tell u that its not impossible and would love to help u all get in! 👍

Exactly. At least I made it, that's why I try to encourage everyone else. I did it, so can you.

I have 5 F's on my transcripts and I was just accepted at PCOM. Of course, I took all of these classes over (except 1....which was an F for a creative writing class...yep...for creative writing. Long story) and I made mostly A's on the retakes. (1 C)

Also, my F's happened when I was a freshman and a sophmore. For my first 104 hours I have a 2.6, but for my last 118 hours I have a 3.8 GPA. I even graduated cum laude because of the fact that when you change to a different college you sort of start over academically.

It requires a couple of years of solid grades to prove to adcoms that you are not a mediocre or F student, despite your mistakes of the past. I am proof that it can be done, though. Just dig in and live up to every ounce of your potential. Good luck.

I think you will find that it is fairly common, especially with non-trads like myself to have several "skeletons" in the closet. I had over 15 hours of D's and F's and spent last semester retaking these classes. Even though it is a lot of extra work and money it can kind of work in your favor. It does show how much you have matured since the last attempt. If a person is willing to go back and retake 10-15 hours then it does show a level of commitment. However, I do expect to have to offer a good explination at interview time.
Just my opinion.

WOw, this was just what I needed, I am such a fatalist and this helps allot. 😳

Every interview I have been at, I have had to explain mine. I am kind of sick of it, but I understand why they ask, so I treat them like they deserve a reasonable explanation.

Do you have a chance? Well I saw a couple of pigs flying the other day. Hope that answers your question.😉

I have a...unique academic history, and I managed to get 4 interviews so far, and accepted. Trust me, if I did it you can do it too! Good luck, and don't give up hope!!🙂
