This has probably come up before as a thread but the AADSAS application give you 4500 characters to 'clarify' your status as a disadvantaged student which is the same amount of space that they give you for your personal statement.

I have devoted a lot of work and effort into my PS, but I haven't given much thought to explaining why I think I am disadvantaged. I could definitely fill 4,500 characters relating my childhood experiences. However, my question is should I? Do they expect the same level of depth and detail in both essays?

Quality > Quantity. I would ignore the word count and just explain everything thoroughly and to the best of your ability and that should be enough.

Many people when they look at the word count will tend to use filler sentences to reach the character goal but people can notice pointless sentences

That makes sense, but should I give it the same sort of weight as my personal statement? Right now I have a 1,400 character statement that summarizes most of the main points, but I could also go into more detail. I have mostly focused on how my experiences ultimately made me a more resilient adult, but I don't want to overshadow the positives with too much detail about all the negatives. However, I don't want my experiences to come across as frivolous.
