...and it's amazing. Do not fret, fellow students. The glorious time approaches. The time when medical school essentially says, "No hard feelings, right?" The time when you no longer have that sense of urgency to memorize every single fact you can. The time for learning PURELY FOR THE ENJOYMENT OF LEARNING is coming! The time for libations, seeing movies at 10pm, and random bowling is merely over the horizon! Hold on to the dream. It gets better!

After finishing 4 months of externships and sub-Is I have started an anesthesia rotation. The resident told me to go home at 1pm yesterday. Do you know what I said? Not what I would have said last year, forsooth! I said, "Aight. See you in the morning." Do you know why? It DOESN'T MATTER! ERAS is in! AOA has been decided! Give me a B! I care not!

(Don't get me wrong. I pay attention and apply myself when on my current rotations, but man, the stress is off. It's so awesome to be learning without the fear of grades or an eval)

I just wanted all you MS1-3s to know that it gets better. It really does. Next year will be grueling, but I will be enjoying the **** out of this year. Godspeed.

Agreed!

Friday of last week my attending asked me and 2 other medical students what we were going to read that weekend. The other two came up with BS responses and I just said, "Nothing, Im going to read nothing. Its supposed to be mid-70s and sunny on saturday and sunday. I think I'll go hiking with my wife and dog on saturday, and I'll go to a nice outdoor bar on sunday and watch football all day and enjoy the weather."

It's nice not only having absolutely no studying to do, but also not having to bull**** to attendings anymore

That's good to hear! I'm in the middle of 3rd year and I forget there is a light at the end of this tunnel sometimes... :dead:

Thank you for that. Still got a few more months of interview/audition season and then Sub-I's, but I am really looking forward to after that.
