Hi guys,

I’m deciding on which schools to apply for this cycle, but I am not sure whether to add/remove some from my list. There are quite a few schools that require that I take 4.5-6 quarter credits of Biochemistry as a pre-requisite. Unfortunately, I only have 4 (took only one class). Should I not apply to these schools entirely? I’m tempted to apply to the schools with 4.5, but the ones that require 5+ may just be a waste of money.

Ooo and while I’m at it, some schools require that I take “human anatomy”. It’s a long shot, I know, but does “functional neuroanatomy” count as anatomy (I was a neurobiology major)? I suppose I should ask the schools individually, but I’d rather ask a stupid question here then with an admissions committee 🙂

Thanks for any future input.

DO NOT quote me on this, but I am pretty sure if you took one biochem you are ok. The quarter credits thing I believe is different than semester credits.

I would also like to know the answer to this if someone has a 100% answer.

your best bet is to call those schools and ask them your self. I took biochem and it was only 4 credits and i didnt have any issues. It really depends on each school individually.

thanks for the input guys! i'll definitely just call the schools

I'm no expert but I highly doubt functional neuroanatomy can be used in place to satisfy human anatomy. Maybe head and neck anatomy, but honestly I don't know.

couldn't you just take any lacking pre-recs before starting school? Sorry to be invading the pre-dental forum and all, but at least for med school you just have to have it finished before you start - not necessarily when you are applying.
