I've been a long-time reader and have found many tips here for MCAT/Step 1, but this is my first time posting...
I'm 5 weeks out from my exam. I currently sit at a 202. Started studying in February during the semester with a slow pass through First Aid and Rx to supplement. Switched to UWorld when my 3-month subscription started. At the end of 2nd year, I bombed my first practice test. I stayed in the same range on my next two practice tests (170s range). I flipped a s**t, reassessed, and decided that all those months I had gone way too much in detail (went back to class notes/texts...big mistake) and not stepped back and looked at the big picture/concepts. I went back to the basics by watching Kaplan videos and skimming sections of BRS Physio that I felt I needed to improve on. I managed to improve my score 30 points in 4 weeks, so that's where I am now. I essentially feel like I had to start from scratch, but what's done is done and I'm glad I realized this sooner than later.
I have two goals: 1) To pass (of course), and 2) To get a 220. My goals were higher before my dedicated time, but I'm being realistic. I did well my first two years of med school (91% average overall), so I didn't slack and tried to learn everything well, knowing this day would come, but I guess it wasn't enough.
Is it possible to get a 220 from where I am with 5 weeks left? If anyone was in a similar situation, what did you do? I've already burned out once and snapped a few times. I'm humiliated that I've required this much prep so far, and I'm really afraid that I'll fail, but I'll push myself as hard as necessary.
Any tips or encouragement would be greatly appreciated.
