I took Gen Chem 1 during the Fall of 2002 and Gen Chem 2 during the Spring of 2003. I have seen some posts about taking courses within 5 years of entering dental school. I am planning on applying and beginning D school in the Fall of 2008, will they accept my Gen Chem classes?

Thanks

The five year rule is a little confusing because any pre-reqs taken Freshman year for students that take a year off between senior year and dental school would be >5 years old. I'm pretty sure that the five year rule is for people who have had a significant time off (i.e. >5 years) between their education and applying to dental school. If you are nervous I would call your schools, but I can't see it being a problem if you've been in college since 2002 and are just now taking some time off.

Anyone else have any info on this?

Anyone? Sorry, I don't want to bug anyone, but anyone else know anything regarding this?

You will need to check with each individual school to see what their policy is. For what it is worth, my wife received an undergraduate degree from a school where she was applying for Nursing School. She was right at the cutoff for the pre-reqs. In her case, she was 5 years and a semester from when she took the class at the same school and she had to retake a couple of classes for admittance into the Nursing Program.

Hopefully, you will not need to retake anything. Good Luck!
