There will be significant wait list movement after May 1st so you could still be accepted at Baylor or Northwestern. It was probably your lack of clinical exposure that hurt your application. I suggest these schools when you reapply
All your Michigan schools
Toledo
Cincinnati
Case Western
Ohio State
Washington University
Pittsburgh
Rochester
Tufts
Boston University
Einstein
Hofstra
Mount Sinai
NYU
Duke
Miami
U Virginia

You seem pretty good. Don't mention your expunged MIP unless you have to. Otherwise, you seem like a stellar applicant.

Since you skipped a year and added to your resume, I think your odds are better.

I think if you listed your MIP before, you should list it again. Our adcoms @gonnif @Goro @gyngyn might have a better opinion than mine. (why are they all g names?)

Relist your MIP. If you list before you should list it again. Most schools will compare your last application with the upcoming one. Skimping out on those details could hurt you.

I agree with Dana, but also add more Harvard/Stanford class schools, along with Keck and Emory classes

If you don't mind me asking, how many clinical hours did you have before you applied for this past cycle?

I debated whether to disclose it last cycle, and my adviser highly recommended it. I was just walking home by myself when it happened so I'm very comfortable talking about it and discussing what I learned as a result. I figured if I apply to any of the same schools (which I plan to) I should do the same this year.
I really appreciate the feedback everyone! So with my school list, I'm trying to balance my concern of not being accepted anywhere with my desire to take a shot at a top school. After applying to the safer bets in-state like MSU and Wayne, how many Harvard/Stanford or Keck/Emory schools do you think would be reasonable to take a chance and apply to? I wanted to increase my school list from last time, but am not sure how many to add.
I suggest:
Keck
Emory
Hofstra
Dartmouth
Case
BU
U Miami
Einstein
Mayo
Pitt
ALL state schools
Up to ten Harvard/Stanford class schools.
Grand Total: 20-30

Sounds like you've really kicked things into high gear, which (I expect) will make for a very different cycle this time around --

I'm going to suggest that you write Baylor a love letter. Emphasize your recent clinical experiences and how much you've learned from them, how grateful you are for having had the opportunity to participate in them, and how you can see how necessary they are to future physicians. (Lay it on thick.)

What you're hoping for here is that if/when Baylor picks 2-3 people to accept off the waiting list, that you are one of those 2-3. Your numbers are certainly competitive, and it seems like you've already remediated what was your greatest shortcoming. If Baylor agrees -- you could be the one.

100% DO NOT listen to this advice from someone who hasn't even been accepted to medical school. A school (or later a licensing board) can rescind your acceptance at any time if it comes out that you lied about this. Since none of the ADCOMs here have mentioned it, I imagine both occurred far enough in the past to show you have learned from your mistakes, but hiding them would show that you haven't learned from your mistakes.

@Green_Goose no problem. I had about 100 between EMT training and shadowing and from talking to advisers/committee members it was the biggest point against my app.

Ok that's a great list, thanks. The only one I was questioning was Mayo since their class size is so small and I don't have a publication. Do you think there's still a chance at an II?

Sorry I was unclear earlier, I actually applied in the 2016-17 cycle. But I actually did send that love letter! I figured there was really no down-side, but in the end it wasn't quite enough to tip the scales in my favor.

Don't worry, I'm not considering doing this and from everything I've heard it is not a major concern as long as I prepare to talk about it, which I have.

Oh ok, thanks. Also, did you get rejected from all those schools even with a 524?

I think Mayo is worth a shot

Dang dude, that really sucks. But you're looking pretty good for this cycle, so good luck!
