Hi, so I just got back from the testing center and am quite satisfied with my scores... But I'm a little worried about my Biology score because it kinda stands out from everything else...
PAT 25 (99.7%)
QR 20 (89.3%)
RC 23 (94.5%)
Bio 19 (77.1%)
GC 23 (95%)
OC 22 (91.5%)
TS 21 (92.4)
AA 21 (93%)
And because it's tradition to leave a breakdown [Sorry if it's not that descriptive/useful]:
I took a Kaplan course and it clearly helped me... I'll leave my scores at the bottom. I was REALLY worried that I had just wasted all my money on the course... But apparently I didn't. =D
PAT:
When I took the Kaplan diagnostic, I got a 25... So I didn't really improve here. But I bought CDP because I heard it was really great and I definitely don't regret it. The Kaplan angles are a JOKE [as I'm sure you all already know]. So it was definitely a good investment. I think that I lost points in this section because of the angles... So hard.
QR:
I actually didn't prepare for this part outside of Kaplan. I was really worried that I was doomed because I just relied on Kaplan for this section... So last night, I just crammed in a bunch of trig into my brain. I thought that this section was the hardest on the test... beh.
RC:
I was scared of this section. I'm really bad at reading comprehension... On the SAT, I got something ridiculous like a 500 on the verbal section... So this score surprises me. The week before the exam, I just did as many practice exams that I could get a hold of. Before reading the passage, I read all the questions to familiarize myself with some of the terms that I should look out for. Then I read the passage and search&destroyed. Definitely better than the Kaplan method [at least for me].
Biology:
This makes me sad... I prepared the most for this section. I read KBB twice and Cliffs AP Bio once. I was sure that I had everything in my brain. But I guess it all slipped out before the test.
GC:
KBB all the way.
OC:
I just used my college notes for this. My professor gave us awesome notes.

I'm entering my senior year and plan on taking a year off to teach English in Korea [does anyone by any chance know how the interview process will work if I'm out of the country?]. I've completed 100+ hours of shadowing/assistant work, I've contributed to two research projects and will hopefully be included in the publications, I work for the Orgo lab, I'm the principal cellist in my college orchestra and am also in a bunch of chamber groups [manual dexterity, whoo!].
How do I look as an applicant? I know that Biology is the most important science... But am I just overreacting? I'm a California resident and will apply during the next round. As of now, I plan on applying to UCSF, UCLA, USC, UoP, NYU, and maybe Columbia for kicks.
Also, I can't forget... Thank you everyone for all your input on the DAT. I'm so glad that I found this site.. I only wish that I could have found it earlier...
