I was a 1:00 PM test-taker (I know this isn't what you asked, but insight is insight).

I got there at 12:15 and I did not start my exam until 1:40. The processing takes a while. No matter what time you show up you're going to be waiting.

IMO, get there at 8.

don't arrive at 8am....you don't even want to chance being late and end up not taking the test. I live 5 minutes away from my test center so I arrived at like 7:30, started at 7:50. Process was pretty damn quick and there were about 5-7 ppl ahead of me who started earlier.

Arrived at 7:20, there were only a couple people ahead of me when I got there and they let us start early, so I started at 7:45ish

Depends a lot on the testing center. I arrived about 20 early and started within 5 minutes from that.

I live in Houston, and when I took the GRE, I walked in and was good to go in like 5 minutes?

Arrived at seven (didn't want to take any chances with traffic), started at 730 (they weren't allowed to let me start earlier).

Bad advice who told you to get there at 8 for an 8am test. At least half an hour early.

630AM - breakfast / watch grey's anatomy
730AM - left the house
740AM - arrived at the test center
810AM - checked into my cubicle

Got there 7:15, doors locked until 7:30. Test started early at 7:55!

I went there the day before and asked what time they start checking people in- they said they opened at 7 and would begin at that time (i bet its different for every place). I got there at like 7:15. I'm glad i did because at 7:30 there was a long line.. and i woudlnt have wanted to wait in that line getting more and more nervous. get there earlier.. you can always chill in your seat during the long instructions section

I got there at 7:30 like most people, which resulted in a long wait. I think I started around 8:30. The wait definitely heightened my anxieties, so I suggest getting there at 7:15.

I got there at 730. It wasn't a full session so there wasn't a lot of wait. I was surprised by how many people came with their parents in tow.

Got there at 7 am, got the best spot, farthest from the door and started at 7:30. Get there early! 👍

Got there at 7:50, ended up having a massive line and starting the test much later anyway (8:45). I think you should plan on being extremely early though. Potentially missing the exam just because of timing would feel terrible.

This is going to sound crazy. I'm taking my test at 8am, and the later I actually sit for it the better. I am not a morning person, and there is no way around that. Last year I had a 1:00 test and started it at 12:15. If I started my 8:00 test at 8:20 or so I'd be thrilled.

I got there around 7:45 and didnt officially start until 8:30. Most inefficient check in ever since there were only about 5 people sitting with me. As long as youre there before 8 then theyll let you take it.
