Hi all and thanks in advance!

I am a prospective student coming from Canada from a top tier University and will be applying with a

3.3-4 GPA
400 Sci OAT
380 Total OAT

With a lower than average GPA and a decent OAT, I can't be confident about my chances at places like SUNY, SCCO, NECO.

I am planning to apply to 9 schools this coming round and was wondering if that was too many?

And

Will all the schools that I am applying to see that I have applied to 9 and thus take my application less seriously?

Thanks for all insights in advance

I am confident that you can get in by applying to less than nine schools, in my opinion. Your OAT scores rock and your GPA isn't too bad at all!

Thanks for the reassurance guys but I always worry that state schools like University of Houstan and Suny would be re lucent to pick up a Canadian student over a national.

Hi all and thanks in advance!

decent OAT, I can't be confident about my chances

hell if you think that is just a decent OAT then i don't know what a good one is.

with those scores, apply to one school, walk through the interview, boom you're in.

Okay i applied to 8 and i am now realizing that was too many for me, as 4 of them i didn't even Really want to go to, they were more like second-choice backup schools. Only apply to the places u really can see yourself at. your GPA is fine and your OAT IS AMAZING what! :O
and no they don't see what other schools you apply to, but might ask you at the interview what other schools u applied to. i just tell them a few of the others.

Thanks Missbrightside for the reassurance! 🙂

Dude. Check out the Class of 2017 acceptances from last year's cycle. People with lower OATs and comparable GPAs (me) got into a lot of places. I applied to 6 and got in to the first 4 I interviewed at then stopped b/c I got into my more preferred schools. Actually, I got into all 3 you mentioned. So calm down! Practice your interviewing skills (Tell me about yourself, topics in optometry, why optometry, how are you prepared, why this school, what you want to do in the future ...) and you should be set.
