Day 10

January 4, 1999

After leaving the closet, the six of them went upstairs to SkyCity for lunch.
Jason and Amy sat together at one table, while the others took up another one.
He wanted to be able to talk to her without other people listening in.
"When we get back, what do you think about staying in touch?"
"Of course, I think after this traumatizing experience we'll always be friends."
"Yeah, but I'm hoping to stay more than friends. Would you be interested in something long distance?"
She was quiet for some time, her head tilted to the side and her large eyes, soft and relaxed as she looked at him.
"Jason, you're so very wonderful, but I don't feel the same way about you."
His face turned to show his disappointment, though a large, bulging vein in his forehead suggesting he was a bit angry, too.
"We can be friends, though, right?"
She reached out to touch his hand.
Her hands were soft and comforting, which pained him all the more.
"Yeah, we can be friends. Hey listen, I think I'm going to figure out where these guys are staying tonight. I hear you out about your feelings, but I wasn't expecting your answer. I need to clear my head."
"Oh.. Okay."

After lunch, Amy went back to Rick's apartment, alone.
The first thing he noticed after he let her in was that Jason was not with her.
"Where's Jason?"
"He didn't want to come back here tonight. I think he's hurt by something I said."
"Is he alright? Does he have somewhere else to stay?"
"Yes, and yes. I think he just needs some time to himself."
"Good."
Amy smiled, trying to cover up the thoughts that were trapped in her throat, but they were hard to contain.
She felt her pulse increasing, and was sure sweat was beading on her forehead.
"Can I confess something? Maybe multiple things?"
"Uh, yeah. Do you want to sit down?"
"No, it's fine. I wanted to say.."
Her mouth felt dry.
"That is, the reason Jason is upset..."
She took a deep breath.
"I have feelings for you. I think."
"You do?"
"Yes. Shoot, I shouldn't have said anything, should I?"
"No, I'm glad you did. I like having your company, and you're beautiful, and funny, and... Truly, I'm happy you told me."
"There's one more thing," She nervously chuckled, "But now I'm thinking maybe I should've started with this.. I need to show you something."
She pulled out the folded up photo of the time machine.
"You probably won't believe me. You'll think I'm crazy. When we first met, that night, we had been at a party at the Space Needle earlier." She slowly continued,
"But that was a weird party. Like, we had started somewhere else."
"I don't understand. You went there for an after party?"
"No. This picture here? This is a time machine."
Rick scrunched his face and raised his eyebrows.
"A time machine?"
"Rick, I was born in 1997. I don't have any proof, no ID on me, but I was born in 1997, full truth. Our entire party was transported to the past on New Year's Eve. We're just working out how to get back, and this time machine in the picture, if we can fix it, we'll be gone. Tomorrow maybe? Or the next day? Sometime soon for sure."
"This... sounds ridiculous, you know? I'd not even have a sliver of faith in what you're telling me if it wasn't for how you were dressed the night I met you two. You looked bizarre."
He paused briefly, then asked,
"You definitely want to go back?"
"Yes. I mean, I have to. I don't have a life here."
Rick stroked the side of her face and pushed her hair back, then pulled her in close to him.
She squeezed him tight.
"If I had been born twenty years earlier..."
They both laughed as he released her, mostly, though kept a grip on her hand. Their fingers intertwined for a few moments before he let go.
Inside, her heart was heavy.

So, I made a redirection item last night and sent it out to one of the 4 of you.

I would not have made it if I knew of any redirect-able village abilities like protector or seer still in existence, so the intent was to redirect the wolf doing the killing onto another wolf (if 2) or possibly force them back onto themselves.

If wolves have it, they are not worried about it. But if a villager has it, then I hope they choose wisely.

Mmk, have considered things, and because idgaf anymore really...

I was under the impression that wolves thought I already made one. Preeeeetty sure that is why I got blocked repeatedly instead of getting night killed like 5 days ago, unless I have had a wolf in my top village reads for a while and they thought I would keep defending them.

That is one of the reasons why I soft-cleared you -- you seemed to be aware of the point when my N1 item first got put into play, and I thought wolves missed the real thing and bought the misdirection instead, and it seemed like you were helping to perpetuate the white lie. (I also though you sounded more like your villager self than your wolf self, especially as the game has gone on longer).

So, if it helps remaining villagers to know this, I have stopped two kills this game so far.

At least one of them was aimed at me.

Yes, i thought this when i was more confident about who i thought the wolves are. Now, I am not so sure, and also not sure that the protection possibility was not what was keeping us alive, but more the complete wrongness of reads.

So I get home and from what I see, Pippy tries to get me lynched out of nowhere at the last second on a bowling night when shes knows im not completely available. She had all day to question me if she wanted, then explicitly asks when id become busy and tries to take advantage of it. Dirtiest play i think ive seen and I will have to address this privately with her after the game or offline before I think I can play again with her.

She sent me the redirection item, which i kept a secret because SHE didnt want it exposed, and now plan not to use, because she now apparently thinks Im a wolf.

Uhhh I asked you before you left about when you were going to be away so that I could try to discuss things before you left. When I swapped to you, I did it absolutely last minute to basically throw away my vote because I couldn't decide.

To reiterate -- I deliberately waited until it was impossible for anyone else to swap, as evidenced by the fact that like...no one else DID make it in time, and you had ZERO votes on you and ended with exactly one, so maybe check those time stamps before accusing me of voting you off in some kind of dirty af move.

I'm sorry you outed the item and are not planning to use it.

I'm going to assume you're drunk before commenting further. Have a good night.

I apologize if this came off more offensive or personal than it was intended, as im sure it did, I was just trying to make a point. When you invest sometimes hours a day into this game, it turns into more of a battle in a way, so I guess I have already broken my new years resolution, although this has been an enjoyable game with all the nostalgia and childhood memories it has brought, so I am grateful for that. I have had a much higher stress level lately with this game, work, sleeping in 30 degree weather without heat, and other things, although that should not be an excuse to snap at someone. So again, I apologize.

Night 10

January 4, 1999

After Amy had departed lunch, Jason left his remaining money with Cliff, Carly, Nick, and Sarah.
The four of them would use the car again to go drive up and buy the amplifier.
Jason wanted to stay behind to clear his head.
Once he was alone, he thought about going to Rick's apartment after all to apologize to Amy for putting her into that position.
Ultimately, he decided it was better to leave it be for now.
He went for a walk through downtown.
Other thoughts began to enter his head regarding getting back to their present time, such as how about the rest of the people? Everyone had scattered out. They only knew where exactly the six of them were. Surely, there would be a way to reach out to everyone, but at that point he was drawing a blank.

They arrived at the pawn shop with two hours until closing.
Sarah immediately approached an employee and described what she was looking for.
The other three watched them disappear between the aisles.
"If she really knows what she is doing, and we get to go back soon, y'know we'll be leaving behind quite the mess." Cliff commented to two young ones.
"I think she really does know what she's doing." Carly said, ignoring the second part of Cliff's comment.
"There wasn't anything else to do. We did what we had to. Nobody deserved any part of what has happened." Nick said.
Cliff spotted a water cooler near the cash register. It sported a stack of colorful Dixie cups on top. He mentioned that he was thirsty and would be right back.
He walked over, took a cup off and filled it with cold, refreshing water.
He guzzled it down and then refilled it, this time savoring each sip.
Once it was empty he crushed the cup beneath his foot and then threw it into the garbage.
