A bit of advice needed

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you really want to avoid that professor, you can study for DAT after you finish spring 2017 in May, study for like 2 months (submit/finish your application in early June), take DAT late July/early August. It's still early in the cycle.. if you absolutely want to avoid the professor, that is. But Orgo is just orgo. No matter what your friends say, orgo doesn't get easier or harder than it actually is. If you think the way the professor teaches doesn't help you much, use Chad's or other orgo study materials that suit you.

I agree with this. I took the "killer" professor at my school, studied her material and outside material like a crazy person and ended up doing well enough in her organic 1 and 2 classes that I have been doing research with her for over a year. Organic chemistry can be brutal, it truly is one of the "weed-out" courses, but if you take it seriously you will do fine.

Thanks for the advice! I guess I'm on SDN too much nowadays; my mindset is either apply June/ July or don't get in

Wow, how the tables turned! Glad you studied hard and passed; need to do that myself soon Can't procrastinate anymore.

Thanks guys!

Don't mean to scare you but just make sure that the other classes you have taken as pre-reqs will be accepted some aren't accepted by schools if they aren't at a 4 year university. I would just look into it before you spend all the money on applying!

Thanks for the lookout! I am aware of a few schools that don't accept CC credits, so I for sure won't be applying there.

Could you take Orgo 1 in the Summer?

I was thinking that, but 5 weeks for org 1... you think its possible? I've asked around and they seem to think no:depressed:

I just don't think the condensed version will do enough justice for the orgo section, but I may be wrong.

Wouldn't be hard if it's your only class. I took Cell Biology in a short summer semester. The professor knew it was one of the toughest courses to take in a short time, on par with graduate level courses. It was my only class that semester and I breezed right through it. I know other students who had other classes on top of it who didn't do so hot.

That is actually true and that makes me feel better lol. Thanks!
