I guess it was 2001 that i interviewed at UCSF. Good thing they changed it, who the hell wants to do 7 when you can do 6.

I heard that crappy place called Parkland also used to be a 7 year program too.

I guess you didn't go to one of the clinically elite schools like Harvard, Columbia, or Penn (some years) to merit a 6 year spot at UCSF....... When I interviewed there, they told me I was their token candidate from the southeast that year and I only could possibly qualify for 7 year spot. I did not get to interview with or meet Pogrel either. Two of the interviewers never introduced themselves, and the interview lasted 15 minutes x2 for which they required candidates to stay two days. I hope they improved the interview, I still want my money back from that trip... The only positive was the food and liquor.

No, I didn't attend any of the "clinically elite" schools; walked into the interview with my hubmle midwest DDS. I recall Pogrel being friendly, but thats about it. Everything else is a blur because it was my first interview. I thought about asking him if he really still uses the lingual split technique, or just publishes about it to look cool but didn't think that would go over too well. Should have asked once they basically said "7 years".

yes, you are right. I remember ranking the 6 year #3 and then the 7 year way at the bottom with the UCSF 7 year. It really hits you when you submit the rank list "Ok, it's up to the match computer to determine the next 6 years of my life!"
