Hey I graduated from my university (a University of California) with a good gpa, but the thing is I transferred from a community college. Not all of the classes I took at the community college transferred to the university (like basic algebra, intro to algebra, *cough* marriage and family). So how would I go about calculating my cumulative GPA? Would I just base it off of the GPA that the university says I have, or go back and add EVERYTHING (all community and all university grades)?

Just to clarify, the way the UC's do it, when you transfer, it's like your GPA starts over again for them and the grades you get at *that* particular school are reflected rather than them adding up the grades prior to your attending their univeristy. I hope that makes sense...if not, I'll try to further illuminate. Thanks for everyone's help.

Hi,

Are you asking about how med schools will see your gpa? If so, then all grades earned for classes will count equally (assuming same units/credits) with amcas. If you're asking about how postbac programs do it, it probably depends on the specific program.

Hmm, so that puts a different spin on things then. If I was to just take some easy classes during this idle year at the local CC and get good grades, that would actually be a good idea then? Also, does the work at the university get more attention than CC grades? The difference between my cumulative GPA and my university GPA is about .5 points which is why I'm asking all these repetitive questions. Thanks.
