So it looks like I'm on a ****-ton of waitlists (6 to be exact) and will be writing some LOIs. If you could help with some of the questions I am having that would be amazing.

1. Should I name drop the specific school/s I have been accepted to? I have been accepted to a solid school but would be sending letters to schools ranked above them.

2. Should I include an update? I don't have anything too notable but could scrounge some things together.

3. If I have lots of family/personal reasons for wanting to go to a school should I bring that up, or keep it strictly professional?

4. How long should it be?

Thank you so much. Pray for me.

I agree with Tenk. These don't matter as much except for certain schools (check the forums to find out).

1. No. Hell no.
2. If you have anything significant (publication) yes. If you just started volunteering anywhere, no. (because you're going to be leaving in 2-3 months if they accept you right?)
3. It better be significant. Not just because your family is living there but more along the lines that your SO is starting their new job there and you'd prefer to stay together. Something along those lines.
4. 1 page like any professional letter (its really half a page once you get the titles, dates, addresses, signature line, etc all on there).
