A few questions about applying after undergrad graduation.

Hello everyone. Well, I just had a couple of questions that I really hope to get answered. Currently, I am entering my third year in a four-year university in California and majoring in biological sciences. I plan on graduating first and then working towards a Pharm.D degree. I guess my questions are:

1. Since I didn’t go with the pre-pharmacy route, what are my options?
2. Am I supposed to go to a 6-year pharmacy program or enter grad school first, graduate, then pharmacy school? (Or are neither of those correct..?)
3. Lastly, I read on the St. John’s University website that for the pharmacy program, “Candidates for admission must be: a) graduates of an ACPE-accredited pharmacy program OR b) have earned a B.S. degree in pharmacy with completion of clinical experience equivalent to a community internship, hospital externship, inpatient clerkship and an elective rotation AND have obtained a license to practice in the U.S.”
So does that mean I am ineligible to apply there?

Sorry if this is too long, but I am simply overwhelmed after looking through websites and forums, so I thought I’d just ask here. I have seriously been staying up all the past nights wondering what the proper procedures are.

1. Some of the classes you've already completed may fall under the pre-requisites. It's best to check with the schools you anticipate applying to and make a list on what you have to take. From there you can get an idea on how many extra classes you will need to take once you graduate (or even before).

2. Graduate school is optional; if you complete your pre-reqs and have your degree, you can apply to most schools. Don't forget about the PCAT.

3. I'm not sure on this one; call the school directly and ask them.

For St John's I think you were looking at the wrong page. What you copied there looks like a program for people who have either a BPharm (the degree that used to be the required one for becoming a pharmacist) or have a degree from another country. Go to this page. I think that is what you are looking for.

3.... YES u are ineligible to apply to st john university pharmD program.....I called and asked....u need a BS in pharmacy to apply to their PharmD program.....
