Before everyone pounces on this thread, I do have a legit question.

I am under the perception that schools filter applicants by GPA and MCAT. Assuming you are from a school with no grade inflation or whatever, is there some sort of "average" that comes from both numbers?

For example, you have a bottom range MCAT (say 30) and high GPA (say 4.0), do you get screened out of schools that don't take 30's or will you still be looked at because of your GPA?

Sorry if this has been answered multiple times.

My guess is that different schools do different things, and since there's only a handful of adcom members here from a handful of schools and the rest of us are pre-meds that aren't involved in the admission process, that no one's going to be able to give a 100% sure-fire answer to what adcoms do in any given scenario.

I for one don't believe in hard cut offs for GPA and MCAT. I have friends with scores/GPAs across the boards and many of them got accepted into the same schools.

I feel like as long as you present a strong application- don't worry that you won't be looked at.
