This forum tends to offer little constructive advice.

I have no advice to give but I invite you all along as my wife and I pursue private practice. Put the following link in your google readers and learn from our mistakes.

I wouldn't say I choose to defend commercial optometry. I choose to defend those that find themselves in that situation. I also choose to not continually demean our colleagues who practice differently than I do/will.

I am not choosing private practice. We are choosing private practice for my wife because I'm tired of seeing her being mistreated by our employers. I'm choosing to leave optometry (God willing) because I now have different ambitions.

I don't know why they do. I did, and do, because it met/meets my professional and personal needs at the time.

They did choose their situation and it works for them. It doesn't work for you. Why are your needs/wants/desires more important than theirs? Are your needs/wants/desires the needs/wants/desires of the optometric profession as a whole?
