What's up SDN, I've been a long time lurker but the stresses of applying have pushed me to become a member and make this thread. First off I want to thank all of you who contribute to this forum, I've learned quite a bit from a number of you. Well, on to my "story".
- I graduated from UVA undergrad in May with a 3.31 cGPA, 3.24 sGPA, and 3.27 BCP (all with +/-). I show a general upward trend with a 2.69, 3.0, 3.3, 3.3, 3.24, 3.5, 3.69, 3.92 respective semester cGPA's. I not only took my prereqs but also a number of "suggested" courses i.e. Anatomy, Biochem, Genetics, Cell Bio.
- My DAT scores are: PAT:21, TS: 19, AA:20, QR: 19, RC: 22, Bio: 18, GChem: 20, OChem: 20.
- 130 hours general shadowing, 35 perio shadowing
- 6 Mission of Mercy Projects (~70 hours)
- About 800 hours of undergrad research with a paper under review for publishing (left the paper part out of my app though)
- Various leadership activities, examples include Class Rep on Undergrad Admission Committee and VP of Fraternity
- Have been working as a soccer referee for 10 years
- Currently working at VCU dental school as an assistant in their Graduate Periodontics Dept
- 2 For sure strong LOE, 2 LOE unsure of strength, may be just a standard formula may actually be high quality
Originally I was going to apply to 12-15 schools but I bumped it up to 20 at the last minute because I got a tad anxious. Some schools are more of a stretch than others. I submitted my app on 6/12 and everything was in and verified by 6/18. I've received a few emails from schools saying they have my app, but I imagine that the status will actually changed to mailed in AADSAS at the end of this week (6/27).
I applied to: ASoDOH, Midwestern (AZ), Loma Linda, Western U, LECOM, Midwestern (IL), Indiana U, Louisville, Boston U, Tufts, MSoDOH, Creighton, Rutgers, UNLV, Buffalo, Case, Temple, Roseman, VCU (in state), and Marquette.
I tried to provide an overall yet detailed picture of my scenario. If I've forgotten anything just ask. Let me know what you think my chances are for interviews, acceptances, if I've missed any schools that I should be applying to, etc. By the way my 2x2 is on point, so my picture alone may just carry me to the top.
