Hello,
I am a nontraditional applicant (29 years old). I have an undergraduate BA in zoology w/ a 3.71 GPA (2003) but then I took a bunch of pre reqs at a community college over the summer and regular semesters (2004) to get into physical therapy school (physics 1 and 2 and gen chem 2, statistics, and calculus) my GPA at the community college was not good because I was also working 3 jobs (3.6) but a bunch of Bs in the sciences. I got into PT school and got my DPT with a 3.91 GPA and then worked for 3 years. I took organic last year at a 4 year state school (got A s both semesters) and am applying now to all schools in GA and some elsewhere. My MCAT should be around 30-32. Do you think the community college classes will really hurt my chances? What schools outside of GA would be within reach? THanks for any advice!

-ASSUMING you do get 30-32 like you said, you should be fine. Since you are a non-trad and have your BA already with a decent cGPA, I don't believe it really matters where you take your pre-reqs. Just keep getting As and make sure you do get that 30-32 on the MCAT along with solid EC and your good to go.

-As for schools outside of GA, may be try Northeast schools. I've heard schools in Northeast accept good bit of OOS, but with good stats of course.

Thanks, my MCAT practices are going well (29) and I still have a month to study (im taking July 8) so I think I should be OK except of course that I wont get my scores until I will have already applied = (

My ECs are a lot of extra stuff I take on for work (mentoring student PTs, certifications) and a few other things like several weeks medical aid in S. America, but mostly I just work but I guess this should count as many hours of patient contact time and a good knowledge of physician patient relationship.

Honestly, good gpa, good grad gpa, + doctorate degree in physical therapy (will be a great EC to put on your list), + non-trad status will put you into a very good zone. Get a good mcat score and you'll be fine. Also don't forget about DO schools, because they love their non-trads.
