I am not a student but I am planing to go there next year, hopefully. here is the website www.kgi.edu

So I was wondering if you guys know about this program? Is anyone interested in going to KGI?

I believe that the small group of student and the small ratio of faculty/student is an excellent aspect. What I am looking for is a post bac program that will work with me during the admission process, not just GPA or well-known name.

During the past few months, I have been looking for a post bac program and my experience is that they don't really care about you, they only want your tuition which is pricey and your statistic.

Calling this program "excellent" is premature. It's brand new. "Excellent" would mean that the program predictably gets its grads into med school. Intentions aren't results.

The "excellent" part is that it's in California.

Compare this program to VCU in terms of structure. But note that VCU's postbac has a long relationship with VCU's med school. KGI may or may not have a relationship with USC's med school.

Worry about how you'll pay for it. Can you get federal loans? Can you afford the additional student loan burden, long term?

Best of luck to you.

Hey, I actually interviewed with KGI a few weeks ago and should know about my acceptance sometime this week. I really like the setup of the program with small class sizes it wont be a huge change from my undergrad. The school is pretty small, 3 buildings but only 2 are actually being used the other is leased out. They are also in the process of being accredited for a MS program for us premed majors who dont want to take the business route of medicine with the MBS program they have currently.

not affiliated with USC at all. i think both had donations from the keck foundation or whatever... maybe thats why they share the same name

however i think its part of the claremont colleges... so scripps/harvey mudd/pomona college. 🙂

Hey, I am in the same boat as you. Were you admitted? I have until May 4th to decide if I should go. I need to raise my undergrad BCPM of 3.28. My MCAT is 32. I'm a little worried about the (1) lack of data points on the program and (2) the emphasis on business. I'm looking for hardcore science/med level coursework, and I might try to cobble together a curriculum that is heavy on pharmacology. Let's chat sometime; I'm interested to hear about your directions.
