Hey,

Does anyone know how thoracic radiologists measure A/P diameter of the chest? What about internists? (do they just eye it?, i havent seen anyone whip out a measuring tape, and i dont think that would be accurate given different chest shapes, adipose etc. ) I have to find this info out for my attending and am having a hard time finding the info. Please let me know. Any info would be great.

Thanks,

Jiminy

The only time I have seen actual measurements being used was in the evaluation of kids with chest deformities. For your run of the mill COPDer, you just eyeball it.
