This is advice, so I'm not sure if it's appropriate for this forum. In reality, this running "shoe" isn't a running shoe at all, it's simply a form of foot protection.
The Vibram "Five Fingers" is the newest product in a new trend of minimalist running shoes. They are not the first or only product on the market. Nike has the "Free" series, which has significant more "product", Ecco now has the Bio-M, etc.
And there are now a lot of runners actually running completely barefoot. The theory is that many to today's motion control shoes provide TOO much motion control and are inhibiting the body's own natural process. The "barefoot" runners believe that barefoot running allows the body to adapt, build muscle strength, etc.
There are many runners that can utilize this method or these minimalist shoes, but there are also many that can incur serious injury. Some people simply don't have the body type, foot type or biomechanics to allow the use of these shoes or barefoot running.
My best advice would be to have an evaluation by a podiatrist that IS a runner and understands this new trend and understands biomechanics.
There is also an interesting alternative/theory of running called the POSE method, which advocates toe strike instead of heel strike and a different running stance. "Google" the POSE method and you'll find some interesting reading.
