It is from mafia and Godfather-type movies where they are dogging on older guys that aren't with the times and who need to be replaced.

Clipboard nurse has been around forever. My residency was using it in 2016. My PD had an rant about the hospital used to be full of doctors and nurses treating patients and now its just full of clipboard nurses carrying coffee between meetings.
We had a bizarre experience at my residency where a clipboard nurse became convinced a resident had tuberculosis - they didn't and there was no reason to believe they did - and tried to fire them. The nurse had done something shockingly insane / inappropriate / and then misinterpreted the results with no understanding at all of how TB testing works. The issue was resolved by asking the CMO/pulmonology for help. Clipboard nurses suck.

I met an executive from HCA (a large hospital chain) this weekend who told me they can’t find enough limb salvage podiatrists to fill their hospital jobs. That seems to be a disconnect.
