About how much does it cost to apply to a Med School? (Total cost not including travel and accommodations, of course).

A lot of money. I'm applying to approximately 20 schools and it will end up costing me around $2000 before I even start traveling to interviews.

That's a lot cheaper than I though it would be. Only $100 per school?

That seems about right...AMCAS costs $30 per school, and each school makes you pay between $50 and $100 with your secondaries. Of course, you probably will have to pay through the nose for your premed committee to write a composite letter, and the MCAT costs a decent amount, and we're not even mentioning travel/accommodations for interviews yet. Bottom line: es muy caro.

Do most people have to pay for their composite committee letter? That's crazy! The only thing I have to pay for is $3 per letter sent, and I haven't even been a student there since 2001.

Well, maybe it's just Cornell...they make us pay an arm and a leg for everything else anyway. We had to pay $185 or something like that. We don't have to pay per distribution unless we have over 22 schools that we're sending letters to.

paying for committee letters? I just had to pay for postage..about $1.08 per secondary...

Woah... I didn't even have to pay for postage for my committee letter. Or do any other work. I just gave them a list of addresses.

Of course, that's not counting all the years of ass kissing I had to do to get to that point. 😀

I can't believe you all have to pay anything. For that matter, I can't believe my school doesn't make us pay anything at all. I end up feeling a bit guilty that they are paying for postage and envelopes.

Wow, my undergraduate school is nice😍
