just curious: if you've been accepted to more than one school and placed more than one deposit down, how does the school of your choice know to "lock" you into their system? I guess what I'm really asking is, if you've placed more than one deposit, how does fafsa know which school to lock in for financial purposes? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You can select multiple schools in your FAFSA for a single academic year. You can report each school you are considering as of the March 1st (soft) deadline.

Your FAFSA and your deposits aren't related really. By selecting schools in your FAFSA, you are granting the Financial Aid offices of those schools access to your Student Aid Report. The school will then calculate your package whenever it is that your school does so.

Hopefully this makes sense.

Thanks for your input. So does that mean every school you applied to will calculate your package?

I believe what y0ssarian meant is that every school you added in your FAFSA will start figuring out your financial aid - amount of loans (sadly no more grants) you can get.

Well, at least in my case, I have chosen the school I will be attending, and I put down that deposit back in February. That school though hasn't even created a student account for me yet, so the financial aid office doesn't even know to create a financial aid package for me. The school can't create the financial aid package until I'm formally in the university's systems.
