A question for NYCOM students

question for NYCOM students or others who may have rotated through AOA approved sites in NY:

I have just matched in ophthalmology at NY Medical College and I am now scrambling for internship sites. I did not apply to the D.O. match, but I would be interested in getting a position for internship through NYCOM. Do the positions usually fill through the match or is it easy to get a position after the match is over?
I haven't been able to get in touch with anyone yet who can answer my questions. Any suggestions for getting an early interview or other routes I could take to get a position would be appreciated.
