A quick question..need some help fellas!

Hi,

I going to fill out the AMCAS application in early june (iam moving so i want to give new address). Anyways, what is this application all about? I know they send your MCAT scores and grades to the med schools you chose, but what do they ask in the application? Are they all essay? Short-answer responds?

one essay ("personal statement") but you also have "short answer" spaces when you input your extracurricular activities. You really need to start working on it to get an idea of what it s all about.

Just go to the AAMC web site and download the worksheet--you can print it out and take it with you, and shows all the info you'll need. Do this NOW, get it all ready, then fill in the real thing online ASAP.

Do I have to fill the whole application in one day or can i take 2 or 3 days to fill it then submit it? I will be doing this on-line

Hey Fem! Welcome to SDN!

Basically, the AMCAS is a web-based application that asks you everything. There's one essay-- the personal statement, basic biographical information, 15 post-secondary experiences (with brief descriptions), a list of ALL your (including HS classes you got AP credit for, and any classes you dropped) classes (with grade and no. of credit hours), official transcript request forms, and a list of all the schools you want the application sent to (along with some other stuff). My advice would be to get started now-- you can go back and change your address at any time. At least go register for the AMCAS by going to <a href="http://www.aamc.org" target="_blank">www.aamc.org</a> and follwing the AMCAS link to the 2003 application. They have a tour of the application with some pointers on how to fill it out. Warning: the tour comes with some pretty awful music. Turn the music off as soon as you can!! 😀

I will be doing this on-line•••••You can take however long you want, since it will be saved as you enter it (and you can ONLY do it online). I did mine in one day, but most people would day that's crazy. The essays tok me a few months to go over, but actually entering the data is pretty quick-as long as the problems from last year are not repeated.
