Welcome to the forums.
Interviews at ONLY 5 Texas schools (Invite = scheduled?).
Did you feel you blew all five interviews?

Your perspective is a bit skewed if you are using the word “only” in front of “5 Texas medical schools”. That’s well above the number of interviews most Texans will have.513/4.0, ORM. Lots of clinical/volunterring/MA hours. Research for couple of years. Texas IS. No gap year. Interviews invite from only 5 Texas MD schools. Didn’t apply OOS. What’s the chance to match? Which OOS MD Schools to apply at this point? Feeling defeated.. Grateful for any feedback 🙏
I don’t think adding OOS schools in October will do much for you.

Back to OP: I agree... are you feeling "defeated" because you ddin't pre-match to any of the five schools?
It's too early to catastrophize your cycle. However, your interview performance and overall holistic assessment of your application will determine your success in getting into medical school. The question is whether you want to go to the school that is 5th on your preference list if it becomes the only school you match into... because you would then have no other choice.

Thanks for all of the replies. Grateful to be interviewed and Would go to any of the MD schools in a heartbeat. Concerned about the chance as 3 interviewed are reach schools and have read about a student who had interviewed in 4 TX schools but didn’t match. Hence was looking to increase chance.
There is always a chance you strike out at all of your schools if you come off as too cringe... and applying to additional schools won't help with that. Thanks for all of the replies. So assuming you aren't coming of as a psycho or desperate, you should be okay.

I would flip the “reach” mindset to the mindset that you must have had something in your application to have not 1, not 2, but FIVE medical schools interview you. They did for a reason. Thanks for all of the replies. Grateful to be interviewed and Would go to any of the MD schools in a heartbeat. I didn’t apply TMDSAS so I’m not super familiar with all the schools (and wysdoc can add onto this) but schools will interview you because they feel that they can see you at their school on paper. It was up to you to crush the interview and prove them right. Five is more than most people get. Have faith and stay positive about having FIVE chances to find a home.

Out of state in the schools know from historical Norms that Texans prefer to stay in the Lone Star State thanks to that nice cheap Texas tuition.
Texans who do manage to get into out-of-state MD schools tend to be superstars.
I think you are in good shape, don't forget to submit your rank list when all your schools show up in your TMDSAS portal. Thanks for all of the replies. I really emphasize with how you're feeling and can attest that adding more OOS schools would probably not ease your anxiety because I have this many interviews and still feel similar to you. If it helps you feel better, we don't know the full circumstances of individuals who received many interviews but did not match. I got really nervous seeing a user on here who had more than 4 TX interviews but ended up not matching during a previous cycle, but it turns out they also had an IA and were on a much steeper slope as a result. There are too many factors at play in any one individual's application to predict what will happen to yours; I'm just trying to stay busy in the meantime. Thanks for all of the replies.
