So, here it goes. I'm a Bio major at the College of the Holy Cross. I ended my Junior year with a 2.28 gpa. Yes, a 2.28. No failures, my lowest grade was a C-. Tons of C's. I'm weighing out my options here. If I bring it up to a 2.5 by graduation, I was wondering what else I could do...

I am aware of the grade replacement policy. What if I did that with most of the Cs? Would that work?

It will work if you get As the second time. Bs aren't going to help your case. And once you start your steep upward grade trend, don't take another dive. Show consistent academic excellence once you turn things around.

I would also be helpful to take some original upper-level Bio and ace it the first time, if you haven't already done so. You want to demonstrate that you don't need two passes through complex material to get a decent grade.

Climb on the retake train and get comfy...it will take awhile but you can do it

Go at a slow enough pace to get As....a B doesn't help

In your case, it means you need a new school

You need retakes to change your undergrad gpa. If this postbac accomplishes that then yes you can do it. If the postbac doesn't let you retake then it's not what you need right now.

You need to change that gpa

Keep in mind that grade replacement is a DO thing, AMCAS requires you to show allllllll of your grades from forever. You'll show the As (if you get them), but also all of the Cs.

I understand that. I hope they'll notice the upward trend my senior year. Also, could I take an unofficial post-bacc? And would that allow retakes? I'm sorry, I've talked to counselors to no avail in this regard

Yes and yes, but be sure that the credits are the same or greater, and if the course title isn't identical that the content is largely similar per the course catalogs.

Retake courses, and go for DO.
